Privacy policy – Frangipani Travel, travel blog from Vienna

Data protection for partner links and ads

This website is financed through partner links and ads. If you click on a partner link, for example to Airbnb, GetYourGuide, Discover Cars or Amazon, the provider sets a cookie on its own website so it can attribute the referral; the provider’s own privacy policy applies to this. We also include Google AdSense to show ads. Google may process data such as your IP address; personalised advertising only happens with your consent. You can therefore decide at any time which services may be active.

We take the protection of your data seriously. When you visit, this website only stores the technically necessary data (server log files: shortened IP address, time, page requested) for 14 days for operational security.

Recommendation links

If you click on a partner link, we count the click anonymously (without personal data) and forward you to the partner. The provider’s privacy policy applies there (e.g. Airbnb, Starlink, Booking.com).

Cookies

Without your consent, this website does not set any tracking or advertising cookies. The only necessary cookie stores your choice in the cookie banner so that the banner does not appear again on every page. Advertising cookies from Google AdSense and the Travelpayouts and GetYourGuide scripts only become active if you agree to the “Marketing” category in the banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Cookies” link at the bottom of the page.

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense, an advertising service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), with our publisher ID ca-pub-3035232744177214. The AdSense script is loaded on every page. We use Google Consent Mode v2: by default, all advertising and statistics storage is set to “denied”. Without your consent, Google therefore does not set any advertising cookies and does not show personalised ads; Google may, however, serve non-personalised ads and process technically necessary data such as your IP address, browser information and the page requested for this purpose.

Personalised ads and advertising cookies are only used if you agree to the “Marketing” category in the cookie banner. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; for serving non-personalised ads, it is our legitimate interest in financing this website under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which there is an adequacy decision by the European Commission. You can find more in Google’s privacy policy and under How Google uses data for advertising.

Travelpayouts Drive

With your consent to the “Marketing” category, we load a script from Travelpayouts (tp-em.com). It automatically turns links to travel providers on our pages into partner links so that a booking can be attributed to us. Without your consent, this script is not loaded. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; you can withdraw your consent at any time via the “Cookies” link at the bottom of the page.

Affiliate links and commissions

In our posts we use affiliate links, among others to GetYourGuide, Discover Cars, SafetyWing, Airalo, Amazon, Audible as well as to Booking.com and other partners via Travelpayouts. If you book or buy through such a link, we may receive a commission; the price does not change for you. Only when you click a link do you go to the provider’s website, where its own privacy policy applies. To attribute tours, we also load a script from GetYourGuide (widget.getyourguide.com), but only if you agree to the “Marketing” category in the cookie banner; only then is your IP address transmitted to GetYourGuide. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time via the “Cookies” link at the bottom of the page. Without consent, the partner links continue to work as normal.

IndexNow

When we publish or update a post, we submit the page address to search engines such as Bing via the IndexNow protocol. This happens exclusively server-side from our server; no visitor data is transmitted.

Privacy: summary

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can also withdraw consent you have given, for example for cookies or statistics, at any time via the “Cookies” link at the bottom of the page. You can find out who is behind this website in our legal notice. This is a translation; the German Datenschutzerklärung is legally binding.

Anonymous usage measurement (heatmap)

Only if you choose “Agree” in the notice do we record anonymously where on our pages people click and where the mouse moves. We store only positions on the page (grid), the page address and the device type (desktop/mobile) – no IP address, no name, no profile. Your choice is stored only in your browser. Legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 165(3) Austrian TKG 2021). You can withdraw it at any time: withdraw consent.
